Studio Badu had the honor of collaborating with SAY IT LOUD Naarm Melbourne 2022—an esteemed exhibition that amplifies the work of diverse designers, emphasising their invaluable contributions to the built environment.
Originating in New York, SAY IT LOUD made its remarkable Australian debut in Naarm during Melbourne Design Week in March 2022. The exhibition showcased exceptional projects from a carefully curated selection of talented BIPOC individuals (he, she, they) and women (of any ethnicity), spanning various disciplines within the built environment. These included Architecture, Interior Design, Furniture and Object Design, Urban Planning, and more.
Our role entailed rejuvenating the existing identity to harmonise with Melbourne's vibrant arts and culture scene, while preserving the brand's fundamental elements. Our solution was to craft a contemporary identity that exuded sophistication, immersive experiences, and an unwavering celebration of the brand's growth. We expanded on the original logo of Beyond The Built Environment, ingeniously incorporating a 3D wireframe form for each letter to depict the location (NAARM). Arranged in a loose rectangular prism formation, we can visualise something that resembles a room or exhibition space, effectively representing architectural structures, objects, and spatial dimensions. The subtle gradient adds a touch of modernity. We further refined the visual direction to shape the overall exhibition experience, ensuring an engaging journey for visitors.
The exhibition attracted between 1100-1400 people during the 9 days it was open at No Vacancy Gallery. In addition, SAY IT LOUD Naarm Melbourne were winners of the DIA Designers Australia Award in the ‘Interact’ category.
