Freelance Copywriter



We're on the look out for a Freelance Copywriter to join our team.

We are a small growing design studio based in St Kilda. Our clients include a range of small to medium businesses to which we offer brand identity and visual communication design services.

About the role:

  • Freelance based

  • We are looking for a talented Copywriter;

  • You will be working on a range of projects ranging from tone of voice creation, content strategy, social captions, advertising ideas, marketing collateral, blog writing, web pages, digital content and everything in between;

  • The majority of the work will be focused on brand identity creation for new clients. This will include taking a brief and creating copy for the brand story, brand message, positioning, values, tone of voice etc;

  • You will work closely with the Creative Director and a diverse internal client base to develop creative campaign concepts;

  • Provide additional writing/editing support as needed;

  • Perform multi-channel copy editing and proofreading for external marketing campaigns, corporate publications, and internal communications;

  • Ensure proper usage of brand voice, and style, as well as grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation;

  • Project based work, with a view to move to a permanent part-time position;

  • Some projects will require you to meet at our studio in St Kilda, Melbourne for team briefings/meetings;

About you:

  • You have a love of words and are clever with structuring sentences;

  • You are extremely motivated, driven and passionate about branding and design;

  • Experience in a creative studio and a folio site that showcases the projects you’ve created;

  • Ability to integrate consistent brand voice and personality into all communications;

  • Sophisticated knowledge of english usage (grammar, spelling, punctuation, language usage, audience sensitivity), and familiarity with marketing communications;

  • Very high attention to detail;

  • High regard for quality, and strong communication skills (verbal and written) are essential;

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines;

  • Able to conduct research on the relevant topics for the projects, strategise how to communicate this goal, and think creatively about the material and audience for the project;

  • Strong sense of societal trends, social media, relevant technology, and creativity;

  • Efficient and able to work quickly as some projects have tight deadlines;

  • Excellent skills in following existing brand guidelines and executing briefs;

  • Able to take direction;

  • You are comfortable taking and giving constructive feedback;

  • Reliable, respectful and honest;

  • Great with people, well presented and happy to do what it takes to get the job done;

  • You thrive working alone or collaborating with a small team.


  • GSuite - Google docs;

  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media;

  • Experience with Squarespace (bonus but definitely not essential).
